Holi Hai – Hindu Festival of Colour Pt 1.

Holi Hai is a Hindu celebration to welcome in the beginning of Spring… What a beautiful and colourful way to start the season….. I am now left wondering how long it is going to take before I can get the pink henna paint out of my hair??? Hopefully the stain will disappear by the beginning of the next season….. Thanks for another funny day in Jakarta..

Getting red paint all over my face from this man was just the beginning....

...and the craziness begins....

..attempting to wash off a layer of paint...

Taking a photo of his colourful daughter and friend...

There was no escaping being covered in paint from this guy!

I sincerely apologise for saying "Yes, I am Shakira" when you both asked.. and falsely made your day.... ooooops!

Look at the sky.. it's going to rain paint lagi!

Ogoh-Ogoh Parade for New Year Nyepi Saka 1933

I made a quick visit again this year to Monas for the Balinese Hindu ritual ogoh-ogoh parade.  Ogoh-ogoh are demonic statues made of bamboo and paper symbolizing negative elements or malevolent spirits, and after the ogoh-ogoh have been paraded around the Ngrupuk ritual takes place, which involves burning the ogoh-ogoh.  This event is held annually to welcome the New Year Nyepi Saka 1933.

Free as a bird….

Ah, happiness is all about exploring new places… and there’s nothing better than coming across a cafe that makes you instantly smile..  From the picket fence at the front and the birdcages hanging in the trees outside…. to the table settings and knick knacks on display on the ground floor… i love everything about this place!  Then just when I was excited about my iced chocolate (I am officially addicted), we were pointed in the direction of the staircase and when reaching the top… WOW… a great bar area and open space with orange couches along the windows and exposed beams on the roof (one of my favourite things ever)…. and yet another staircase… up to the attic! This area is so cosy with more couches and birdcages hanging from the ceiling….. and to make it completely perfect for me.. they serve toblerone martini’s… HEAVEN….

Thanks to the delicious food, friendly staff, sweet atmosphere and free wifi…. they are going to have a hard time keeping me away from this place….

Birdcage is located at Wijaya 9 No 23, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta…..

A delicious cup of tea.....

Tuna filled pancake...

Scrambled eggs, hash brown and toast.... YUM!

Sweet outdoor seating.....

I love the quirky interior....

So many gorgeous things to look at inside....
